Create a picture wall Put three framed prints on a picture shelf in front of a painted panel, to draw the eye to the sofa.

Buy new cushions
Choose bold designs – striking cushions will really jazz up a plain sofa. Mix patterned cushions with plain designs that draw out a colour from the pattern.

Use tidy trays Simple serving trays positioned on your coffee table create storage for remote controls, make a vase and candle display even prettier and prevent teacups from leaving marks.

Go for a bold rug
Pick a pattern that repeats the floral motif on the cushions and continues one of the room's two accent colours.

'Framing' the sofa with matching side tables and lamps creates balance. Choose lampshades in the same colour as the picture wall to co-ordinate the look.
