Gold is the colour of choice for a luxurious Christmas. Dress your table with shimmery taffeta runners, adding silk cushions and throws on seating, then set your table with gold-glazed china and amber glass.
For a stylish setting, wrap gold-trimmed ribbons around bundles of cutlery. Write your guests' names on individual pieces of white card, then attach them to an amber-coloured wine glass at each place setting, using a decorative glitter-covered pen.
For a different take on the golden look, mix dazzling metallics. Choose a sparkly runner trimmed with glittering beads, arranging glass votives over the table and around the room to create a glowing atmosphere. Mark place settings with individual bottles of champagne, which your guests will love.
To keep the focus on the table, decorate the mantelpiece with understated foliage, such as eucalyptus, which sets the scene and smells heavenly. Add a spot of white by binding amaryllis stems with fine gold ribbon and putting them in a glass vase with festive fruit.
For a perfect centrepiece, spray rose heads with gold paint, then arrange them at the bottom of a vase with baubles and a little water, then add a candle in the middle.
