Choose an all-white bedroom
Create a sense of space with an unfussy, light and simple room.
For an understated look keep walls and bed linen fresh and white, and create a tailored look with herringbone fabric and large buttons on cushions. Inject subtle colour with a pistachio-toned blind, pale blue carpet and touches of blue and taupe in the prints and cushions.
How to get the look
Ban frills and bright colours make for a calm, relaxing place to be.
Keep clothes tidy by having somewhere to hang clothes at the end of the day instead of throwing them over a chair – or on the floor!
Free up space beside the bed. Swing-arm wall lights above the bed will leave you room on the bedside tables and let you direct the light if only one of you wants to read.
Clear away the clutter and de-junk all surfaces. Go for a pullout box under the bed instead, to put books, hand creams, jewellery and other bits and bobs in.
Maximise space with slim line furniture. Placing a freestanding mirror at the end of the bed helps to keep the room looking light and airy.
