Throw a colourful children's party

Spoil your little one's with a summer garden party of their own.

A colourful scheme is perfect for a children's treat.

How to get the look

  • Create a party atmosphere with bunting and balloons strung from trees. Decorate the table and chairs with brightly patterned cushions and fun tableware.

  • Go to town with tabletop sweets and treats. Buy a three-pot planter and pack it with treats: fill one pot with party blowers, one with balloons and the other with jelly beans and lollies.

  • Don't forget the cake. Spruce up a plain shop-bought sponge cake with lashings of yummy butter icing and funky birthday candles.

  • A traditional Mexican piñata is a fabulous garden decoration and makes a great game, too.

  • Make home made bubbles. Twist florists' wire into fun shapes. Then mix washing-up liquid with water in a bowl to create the bubble mixture, dip in the wire shapes and blow.
