TAKES 40 min to make
Per serving 150 kCal 10G Fat
1 x 600g (1lb 5oz) pack pork ribs
2 star anise
2tbsp soy sauce
for the marinade
4tbsp vegetable oil
4 spring onions, chopped
2 fat cloves garlic, crushed
2tsp fresh ginger, grated
2tsp Chinese five-spice powder
2tbsp rice wine
2tbsp soy sauce
2tsp sugar
2tsp tomato ketchup
6tbsp barbecue sauce
Freshly ground black pepper
1 Put the ribs, star anise and soy in a pan. Cover with water, bring to the boil, then simmer for 20 min. Drain the ribs and transfer to a baking tray.
2 Heat oil in a pan. Add spring onions, garlic, ginger and five-spice and cook for 2 min. Add rice wine and cook for 1 min. Stir in remaining ingredients and pour over the ribs. Leave to cool, then put in the fridge until ready to cook.
3 Cook ribs on the barbecue for 3 to 4 min each side until heated through.
