Barratt Homes experimenting with eco-housing

From June next year, all homes will be given an energy-efficiency rating before they can be sold...

Barratt Homes, one of the UK's biggest house builders, has been experimenting with eco-homes in Buckshaw Village, Chorley. The homes include some, or all of the following:

• Geothermal technology taking heat from the ground
• Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar thermal collectors
• Wind turbines
• Micro combined heat and power unit (CHP)
• Rainwater harvesting
