Get organised and unclutter your wardrobe

Make the most of your hanging space with our top tips for organising and maximising space in your wardrobe.

Is your wardrobe crowded and chaotic? Follow these time saving tips for a clutter free closet.

Sort it out

  • Try to store only what belongs in the wardrobe if possible, putting items like suitcases and coats elsewhere.

    Work out your needs

  • Choose the right rail system. If for example, you have lots of skirts and blouses, your wardrobe might work better with one rail at the top and one halfway down.

  • If you have lots of items like t-shirts or jumpers that need to be neatly folded, you may want to consider more shelving.

  • A simple way to adapt an existing space is to buy some canvas shelves that simply hang off the rail.

    What goes where?

  • Make deciding what to wear easier by sorting your clothes into work, casual and evening.

  • Fold heavier items, i.e. cottons and cashmere, which can lose shape if hung up so stack on shelves.

  • Store out of season clothes in the loft or spare room. It will mean you don't have to push aside hangers of winter clothes for summer things and vice versa.

    Box it up

  • Prevent mess accumulating at the bottom of your wardrobe by putting shoes and accessories in boxes. Clear acrylic designs will enable you to see what's inside.

  • Store shoes in an over door hanger on the inside of the wardrobe door.
