Make sure your carpet is hard wearing
The hallway is the highest traffic room in the home, so you need a carpet that can cope with plenty of wear and tear. Check the quality of the carpet and go for carpets labeled heavy domestic or extra heavy domestic. Twist, loop and velvet piles are hard wearing types of carpet, and a carpet with an 80% wool and 20% synthetic fibre mix will withstand plenty of comings and goings.
Use a stair runner
Lessen the noise of footsteps on the stairs with carpet or a runner. You can make a feature of your stairs with a decorative runner, use stair rods to hold the carpet firmly in place.
Create a stylish entrance
The hallway gives the first impression of your home, so use a statement carpet to make it a good one. Patterns and bolder colours are ideal for hiding any marks, too.
