Add texture
During the colder months layers of luxurious textures like velvets, mohair, cashmere or suede are ideal. Woolen throws, blankets and cushions are perfect for adding warmth, too. For an inviting dining room, place a runner across the table and use amber glassware and accessories to give plain white china the wow factor.
Use colour
Sticking to my rule of a neutral canvas, my choice of colour for accessorising in winter is usually a warm chocolate brown, deep and lush purples or warm greys. In the bedroom however, I still like to keep that crisp and clean feel and neutrals and pure white give a cosy cocoon-like feel.
Create atmosphere
If you have a fireplace – use it! It's a great way to create a relaxing atmosphere. If you don't have a fireplace, add atmosphere with candles. Don't only think of tea lights or pillar candles, but try some oversized candles in pairs of three - they make a great statement.
