Does This Even Exist?
      #1965 - 23/02/2009 22:20

I am looking for a (preferably decorative) stopper to put into the internal side of the keyhole on an external door, to stop draughts coming through. At the moment I have a piece of tissue stuffed in there (as I think it's unsafe to leave my key in there to do the job), which is pretty unsightly. Surely a purpose-designed item must exist, but where...? Thanks for any advice.

Hi Sue,

Think you mean an Escutcheon. Most DIY stores such as B&Q and Wickes sell basic ones. Though for something a bit different have you tried Knobs & Knockers or a local iron mongers?

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Hi !

I don't think such an item exists.
My advice would be to change the lock.
New locks don't have this problem at all.
Good luck
