Kitchen worktops are designed to finish off the tops of floor standing kitchen units. Kitchen worktops come in many different materials from Formica, marble, slate to solid woods. There are various types of woods you can use for kitchen worktops, the cheaper woods are beech and oak more expensive woods can be used such as cherry and walnut. The advantage of using these materials for your kitchen worktops is that they are all easy to clean and finish the kitchen off with an elegant feel. When choosing your kitchen worktop finish it helps to know what material is being used for the kitchen doors if these are made from wood then it may be nice to have the same wood for the kitchen worktops. However if you are using a neutral colour for the doors a contrasting material like slate or marble may finish off the look, with light units a dark kitchen worktop can complete the look nicely. Another way of choosing what type of material to use for the kitchen worktops is to match it with the material you are using for the floor covering for the kitchen for instance if you have used an oak flooring and have white units an oak kitchen worktop would look great.

Although wooden worktops are very nice, I definitely lean more towards the Corian worktops or the Hi-MACS variety. I just love how easy the Corian is to clean, and the lovely colours! You can even match it throughout your house with matching window sills, bathroom vanity units, basins and shower tray!
