Now's the best time to bag a bargain!

Although I moved into my flat back in October, I have to admit I've only just started putting my stamp on it.

My current project is the hallway. I've been finding it hard to get inspired – it is an awkward L-shape (a nightmare when you're trying to carry sofas into the living room) and is really dark.

To brighten it up I've chosen a light wooden flooring and painted the walls white, but it was still missing that finishing touch.

Luckily last week I was in a restaurant and I spotted the perfect focal point – a huge sunburst mirror.

The owner told me it was from Laura Ashley and the next day I hit the sales! The 20% off made the £200 price tag easier to swallow.

It wasn't easy to get home, but as soon as it's up I know it's going to transform my hall.
